DAY 1
HANOI – LAO CAI
Embark on an overnight train ride from Hanoi to Lao Cai. (Departure at 21:00)

DAY 2
LAO CAI
Arrive in Lao Cai early in the morning. Pick up and transfer to hotel at Sa Pa town. Enjoy a land that is home to many ethnic hill tribes, with scenic landscapes of mountainside rice terraces, waterfalls and traditional villages. Visit Taphin Red Dao hill tribe village, home to the Black Hmong and Red Dao ethinic group, the two largest ethnic groups in the region. Learn about their culture, tradition and handicrafts as you observe their routine day to day lives during this trip

DAY 3
SA PA – DIEN BIEN PHU
After breakfast drive to Dien Bien Phu. Along the way you can enjoy views of the dramatic scenery of Vietnam’s most rugged and spectacular mountainsArrive in Dien Bien Phu where the rest of the day is free at leisure.

DAY 4
DIEN BIEN PHU
Discover a town rich in history offering pristine mountain scenery with a diverse culture of many vibrant ethnic groups. Visit some iconic sites reminiscent of the Vietnam war such as the Dien Bien Phu Museum, the Command bunker of General De Castries and Hill A1 camp.

DAY 5
DIEN BIEN PHU – TAY TRANG – MUANG KHOUA – OUDOMXAY
Transfer to Tay Trang check-point, at the border with Laos. (Client cross border on their own) Welcome greetings from Laos by your tour guide, then transfer overland to Muang Khoua then to
Oudomxay. (aprox 2 hours) See mountains surrounding Oudomxay towards the Chinese border, home to various ethnic groups like the Akkha, Iko, Hmong etc. Arrival in Odomxay and transfer to Nam Kat Yolapa Jungle Resort for overnight stay

DAY 6
OUDOMXAY – NONG KHIAW
Enjoy a scenic ride from Oudomxay to Nong Khiaw. After lunch we will cruise north along the Nam Ou river which has carved its way through some of the most beautiful and remote  landscapes of Laos. Stop to visit a few local villages where no roads or cars have access. The first stop will be in the Village of Ban Sopcham. This village is known for its craft production of silk. You can experience the process of silk making from the initial stages to the final product. Back to Nong Khiaw for overnight.
(B) Overnight in Nong Kihaw

DAY 7
NONG KHIAW – LUANG PRABANG
The drive from Nong Khiaw to Luang Prabang will follow the Nam Ou River taking you up overr the mountains for a scenic route. Along l visit the village of Ban Na Nyang, home to the Tai Lue ethnic group, famous for their traditional cotton weaving. Take the road south to Luang Prabang and stop at Pak Ou village where you will cross the Mekong by boat to visit Tam Ting cave (cave of thousand Buddha image). You will then cruise down the Mekong to reach the city of Luang Prabang.
